ride the mickelson trail
Nomad is located ON the Mickelson Trail in Custer. Start your epic ride of over a hundred miles of this Rails To Trails icon that wanders through the heart of the Black Hils. Don’t forget your trail pass!
hike
Launch from here for miles of trails in and around Custer. Big Rock Park is just to the south on foot offering incredible views of Custer and the Harney Range. The Black Hills National Forest has countless trails with easy access points throughout the area. Custer State Park is home to other incredible hikes for all skill levels.

Don’t miss Mt Rushmore just a few minutes drive on the way to Keystone. Feel the patriotism and awe of this amazing National Monument for yourself.

With over 71,000 acres of beautiful scenery and an abundance of wildlife, Custer State Park is a gem! Drive the WildLife Loop and Needles Highway, float, fish and play in the many lakes and hike the countless trails. The East Entrance gate is only 4 miles from Nomad on Hwy 16. There is a weekly entrance license that can be obtained at any entrance gate to the park.
